Former Kansas prison guard gets 5 years for helping inmates

WICHITA | A former prison guard romantically involved with one of the two inmates she helped escape was sentenced five years in prison on a federal firearms charge.

U.S. District Judge Wesley Brown sentenced Amber Lynn Goff on Wednesday following her guilty plea last April in which she described her role in the Oct. 28, 2007, escape of Steven Ford and Jesse Bell.

The 24-year-old Goff had a romantic relationship with Ford before helping him and Bell escape from the El Dorado Correctional Facility.

The three were arrested in Grants, N.M., early Oct. 31.
