Buffalo prison guard resigns over sex charges

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – A corrections officer in Buffalo has resigned after being arrested and charged with second-degree sexual abuse.

The charges against Anthony Vick stem from inappropriate contact during a relationship between the then-deputy and an inmate held there on a forgery charge. Vick was working as a deputy at the Erie County correctional facility in Alden.

The sheriff’s office says the two have admitted to the relationship. Although it was mutual, authorities say it can’t be considered consensual because he is a deputy and she’s an inmate.

Had Vick not resigned, he would have faced a disciplinary hearing. The 38-year-old was arrested Tuesday.
