Fairfield Co. jail employees resign in contraband investigation

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WIS) – Two Fairfield County jail employees have resigned, and authorities say it is because of an internal investigation.

Fairfield County Deputy Administrator Davis Anderson says officials are looking into allegations that employees brought contraband into the jail for inmates.

Also, some employees are accused of violating policies related to inmates.

Anderson wouldn’t be specific about which policies weren’t followed or what type of contraband was brought in.

He did say two jail employees have resigned since the investigation started.

Meanwhile, officials think more employees may be involved.

Anderson says the investigation could lead to some of them being fired.

We will bring you more details on this story as soon as they come to us.
