State police arrest NM corrections officer

GRANTS, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico State Police say they have arrested a corrections officer accused of having a sexual relationship with an inmate at the Cibola County Detention Center.

A news release says state police investigators conducted interviews and determined a sexual relationship existed between the corrections officer and the inmate.

State police identify the officer as 20-year-old Deandra McNeill.

Through interviews it was learned the relationship had been ongoing since early February.

Jail officials terminated McNeill on March 4.

McNeill is charged with one count of criminal sexual penetration and was booked into the McKinley County jail on a no bond warrant.
