Dixie correctional officer arrested on drug charges

The Dixie County Sheriff’s Office arrested one of its own employees Thursday on drug charges.

Colby R. Driggers of Cross City, who had been a correctional officer at the county jail in Cross City for about a year, was charged with three counts of selling Oxycodone.

Driggers’ arrest was reportedly part of an ongoing drug investigation that started in June. In a statement issued by the Sheriff’s Office following the arrest, officials said there was no indication that any of the offenses happened while Driggers was on-duty or at the jail or at any other department facility.

After Driggers was arrested at about 2:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office was trying to determine whether Driggers would be able to post the $150,000 bond in his case. If he was unable to post bond, the Sheriff’s Office planned to have him taken to another area jail because of his recent employment at the jail and the risk of retribution by inmates he may have once supervised.

  1. In a nation wherein “In GOD We Trust” has become a mere creed on the money upon which it is printed, corruption and wickedness exist on both sides of the badge and the bars. Yet, are they bad men just because they made some bad choices? Do not all of us have A’s and F’s on our moral report cards? As I so stated on my blog, http://www.victoryNchrist.net we can’t fix it IF we can’t face it. I dare anyone who wants to fix their F’s to read that textbook and then to trust in GOD…and that’s my final answer!
