A Hale County grand jury says there is enough evidence to send a former prison guard to trial for murder. The Plainview Daily Herald reports that jury members indicted 31-year-old Sacarias Dee Pena on Wednesday. He’s charged with the murder of 28-year-old Christopher Sanchez of Floydada.
Neighbors told NewsChannel 11 they heard as many as six gun shots on the morning of November 21st. They called 911 around 6:30 a.m.
Investigators say there was a history between Sanchez, Pena, and Pena’s ex-wife. They believe the shooting developed from that.
If convicted, Pena faces five-years to life in prison. Bond is set at $100,000.
